This inlet connect the Intracoastal Waterway and the New River to the Atlantic Ocean. It is on the north end of Topsail Island. This is a shallow draft inlet and is dredged by the Army Corp of Engineers as funding permits. The channel leading through the inlet is market by Coast Guard maintained Buoys however caution is needed when using the inlet as the shoals shift and sometime the buoys will break free or shift.
