AR360

Category:GPS Locations
AR360 is an artificial reef about 1.5 miles from the shore at Topsail Beach and about 2.5 miles from New Topsail Inlet sea buoy.  It is marked by a yellow buoy.  Officially known as “Topsail Reef” it is commonly called “tire reef” by locals due to its origins.  In 1973 the reef was made from discarded tires and banded together with metal cables .  However the cables rusted through and many of the tires were dislodged.  In 1992 and and again in 2002 large concrete pipes were added to the reef.
