Hello All, found this site when searching for info on fishing Topsail.
Hope to get some good info/tips on the area. We usually go to Hatteras Island but decided on North Topsail this year.
Coming down 8/22 for a week.

Welcome aboard!

Topsail Island is very nice and I grew up frolicking on the north end (now known as North Topsail Beach).  Lots of good surf, nice piers and plenty of backwaters if you have a shallow draft boat.

Let us know if you have any questions ont he area.  You might want to check out the WIKI on this site as well if you haven’t already.

Tight Lines!

Hey Lucc,
How are things in Jersey? See you’re coming down on the 22nd. We’re fishing a King Mack Tournament that day so be sure to check in and see how we do. Do you fish up your way and if so what do you catch mostly?

We do all inshore fishing, striped bass, flounder, sea bass, blackfish, blues of course. Offshore is mahi, tuna, shark and marlin/sailfish. A couple years back the water was so warm we were catching Wahoo and baracuda!

I saw the king tourney, sounds like a good time!

I’m not liking these tropical storms forming in the Atlantic though!!!!

Here is another thread I made, know of anyone?

Sounds like you have quite a variety. One of these days I’m going after the big stripers. Do you do any duck hunting? I hear they have Old Squaws aka longtails up your way. I’ll keep my ears open for you on a boat. I only have a 17’ so I can’t go far. But if I hear of anyone I’ll let you know.

I never got into hunting, I guess because my uncles stopped going when I was young and my father never did. I would love to hit Hatteras island during the winter for some striper and red drum fishing!

Hey Jersey,
You should have some luck inshore for flounder and drum on your vacation. I fish the area myself and I’m not a great fisherman, but I’m starting to do pretty well in the area.  About those storms brewwing, you never know there are alot of places it could end up, hopfully not on land. anyhow I hope you and your family have a great time in our area.

Hey ductman,
Any tips or places to fish? Do you fish the sound/surf/inlet or just off the coast? We were thinking of the north point of the island and the inlet a couple days.

I fish in the sound most of the time on the south end of the island, hitting the creeks and docks most of the time. But I know of some folks who fish near shore just off the beach for flounder and do pretty well.
