took a trip over to rich’s to fish for some winter reds for the first time. We saw a few schools when we first arrived and hooked one nice one that measured 30” . The tide rolled out and so did the fish but it was a good first time at the inlet in the winter.

Great report.  I hope to get out one day this week myself.  What did you use for bait/lure?

we were using 3 and 4 inch white gulp shrimp on 3/8 oz lead heads. Good luck when you make it out… maybe I will see you out there sometime.

Sounds like fun.  Came through there the week before Christmas, but did not see anything.

Will definitely have to try again - thanks for the report!

I’m leaning strongly to trying to get out tomorrow around noon or a little after for a few hours.  Winds will be 5mph out of the NW with 1’ seas - just about perfect conditions for sight fishing in the surf from the boat.  Just wish it was going to be a little warmer (calling for a high of 47).

Good luck if you go!!

Will be down next weekend - if the weather is decent I will certainly give it a try.  Got to believe the creeks are just too cold.

I talked to my co worker Saturday afternoon. They fished from sunrise to early afternoon. They finished up the day with 3 drum two in the slot and one over,  but saw many fish working the surf. Early was better ,they must see the sun and want breakfast also.
I’m going to try next weekend if I can find and patch the holes in my waders.  cheese

Well the weather was just as bad as you would ever want it today (22nd) - cold, snow and lots of wind.  Maybe Sunday.
