Went down for a few days…hot..hot..hot!  There were nice Spanish in the 3-4 lb class,  chasing everything,  except for what we had for bait,  with only a few caught all week.  Some Sea Mullet,  and Blues on the bottom,  generally,  typical August fishing….not a whole lot of anything in particular.  The Mullet Minnows are on the beach now.
Yesterday,  the 16th,, my buddy Jimmy,  landed a nice 28 lb King.
Thursday the 12th,  we were King Fishing off Surf City Pier….most everyone had left the end,  except for me and my buddy Gene.  The wind had kicked up,  the water was getting stirred up,  and we decided at 2:30,  we were gonna call it a day at 3.    The video tells the story.  Gene has been fishing for years,  and it’s been a long time since he’s kept one…He decided to keep this one,  and I stuck the gaff in him…..The fish was cleaned,  and the meat was donated to the Turtle Hospital at Topsail Beach.  I think I was a little excited too,  when I almost snatched him out of the water when I hit him with the gaff,  LOL

Thanks for the report!  Great video - guess you were excited, Gene caught a nice fish and had a great gaff man!  Sorry I wasn’t able to get up with you on this trip - hope to see you next time.
